Rally Racing, also called Rallying, has two primary classes, Group A and Group N. Race Cars race along public roads (closed for the event) or off-road tracks. They are ran based on checkpoints where at the co-drivers or team members rally to predetermined points. Racers leave at scheduled times from the start points. Rallies are raced through a number of obstacles based on the terrain. Rally teams are usually allowed to test the track out before the race, at a reduced speed, to create a layout of the course and the environment. The detailed layouts the Rally Teams make are called pace notes. The co-driver will call out the pace notes to the race driver during the real race.The outcome or winner of a Rally Race is determined by the quickest total time to complete each of the courses stages, including penalties.
